Tide Collection
Beautiful swimwear that pays respect to the environment and our oceans through conscious production. Tide collection explores sustainable textiles and raises money for marine conservation.
After-all, “everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependant upon the existence of the sea.”- Legendary marine biologist + earth activist, Sylvia Earle.
Sustainable textiles
Crafted from REPREVE, a textile made from 100% recycled plastic. This collection joins forces with Unifi in diverting plastic from landfills and the ocean. Unifi, the trademark company for REPREVE, are responsible for recycling 3 BILLION plastic bottles, enough to go around the world 1 and a half times.
The production of recycled fibre offsets using new petroleum, which is used in the production of what is called virgin fibre. The effect of this is fewer greenhouse gasses and conserves water and energy.
This recycled textile has performed beautifully for our swimwear. It is comfortable against the skin, durable and has good stretch. Once printed in our Motif Print it becomes visually appealing and unique.
Marine conservation
10% of the proceeds from Tide Collection are donated to The Litterboom Project, S.A’s first large scale river interception program. TLP focuses on preventing marine plastic pollution from ending in the ocean.
Every R200 we are able to donate to TLP pays for 10kgs of plastic to be cleaned up and every R4 000 allows them to employ 1 staff member for a month, which equates to 400kgs of plastic removed.
Exploring swimwear production that is environmentally friendly whilst underpinned by quality and good design, as well as supporting marine conservation efforts by TLP is our step towards a better tomorrow.
We would love to hear any ideas you have on sustainable production?
